LAUREL LITTLE THEATRE

KID'S CAMP 2008
JUNE 2nd - 8th

***RESERVE YOUR SPOT EARLY***

This will be an intensive theatre workshop for children ages 5-15. Students will focus on improving or developing skills in dancing, acting and singing. This summer we will present the Disney musical The Jungle Book. There will be a lot of chorus numbers, solos and acting parts so that everyone gets involved. This workshop is definitely for the student who loves performing.

We need to know ahead of time if your child will attend so we can arrange for our shirts, costumes and other activities. The first day of camp we will have a short meeting at 8am with students and parents to go over rules and regulations. We will then begin camp with a music rehearsal and tryouts for speaking parts and solos.

OUR SCHEDULE
**Monday-Saturday   8am-12:30pm   Music, Acting and Choreography.

**Each day we will take a 30 minute break at 10am, so we do ask that you please send a snack with your child for that designated time. All drinks must have a top on them.

**On June 7th and 8th we will have two performances for the parents and families. June 7th is a Saturday evening performance at 8pm and June 8th is a Sunday afternoon matinee at 2pm. Each performance will last about an hour.

**Parents and families need to arrive early for performances because our seats are general admission first come, first served. The house will open an hour before each performance. Tickets will be $5.

REQUIREMENTS

**All students will need to wear comfortable clothes and tennis shoes (no sandals!) every day at camp.

**Parents will need to provide khaki pants, shorts or skirts and tennis shoes to wear for the lower body part of the kid's costume for the performances.

**This is going to be a more detailed costumed show this year so we are charging $20 costume fee which includes the camp T-shirt that they wear for the performances, decorations for costuming and head pieces.

**The total cost for the workshop will be $100 plus the $20 costume fee. Deadlines for registration and a deposit of $50 will be May 19th. The remaining $50 balance and $20 costume fee will be due on the first day of the workshop or you can pay the entire fee at one time. Make all checks payable to Laurel Little Theatre.

**We will take walk-ins the day of camp if space available, but please contact us ahead of time to let us know your child is coming to the camp. We look forward to working with the students and having them participate in our summer camp.

To add your child to our camp list or for any further information, contact director Juna Broome at 601-297-5157 or at dancediva@c-gate.net.

Our auditions are usually very laid back and you don't really need to prepare anything. Just come on down and we'll have a simple form you fill in with contact info. Auditioning could be a very scary thing, but we try to keep it as easy-breezy as we can so that newcomers will come join in with us on our productions.

For play auditions, the show director will have everyone read some scenes, but you don't have to show up with any memorized piece to audition with.

For musical auditions, you can sing anything you'd like or we'll just teach everyone a short song to sing together. If you bring sheet music, we'll have an accompanist to play for you. You can prepare a song or just sing 'Happy Birthday' or the National Anthem or an old hymn or you can wait and learn a group song with everyone else.
