AUDITIONS at the Arabian Theatre at 7pm
Tuesday and Thursday MAY 26TH & 28TH

Disney Channel's smash hit musical comes to life on the LLT stage this summer under the direction of Juna Broome using a cast from ages 5 to 20 with the older group in the main show and the younger ones in a mini pre-show.

AGES 10-20......The cast for the musical will use ages 10-20 with the older high school/college kids playing the leading roles.

There will not be an accompanist at this audition. You can bring a CD track to sing with or you can sing without any music or you can just wait and learn one group song with everyone else. After the vocal auditions, everyone will also learn a short dance so wear comfortable shoes.

Callbacks for readings for the lead roles will be on May 29th and rehearsals start June 1st with the show running July 30-31 and August 1-2-3.

AGES 5-9..........The younger kids between ages 5-9 will sing and dance in a mini-performance both before the show and at intermission. They will not have to actually audition, but just simply come down to the theatre and fill out an audition form on May 26th or 28th. Rehearsals for the younger group will start on June 1st and parents must come with their child to all rehearsals.

JUNE 1- 7, 2009

This will be an intensive one-week theatre workshop for boys and girls ages 4-15. Students will focus on improving or developing skills in dance, acting and singing. There will be a lot of chorus numbers, solos, and acting parts-we will need mice, horses, narrators, town criers, the nasty stepsisters and stepmother, a fairy godmother, the king, grand duke, herald, prince, and of course Cinderella herself. We have plenty of parts for everyone.

This workshop is definitely for the student who loves performing. We need to know ahead of time if your child will attend so we can arrange for our shirts, costumes and other activities. The first day of camp we will have a short meeting with students and parents to go over rules and regulations at 8am and then we will begin camp right away with a music rehearsal and tryouts for speaking parts/solos.

  • Our schedule that week will be as follows:

  • Monday-Friday8am-12:30pmMusic, Acting and Choreography Rehearsals
    Friday-Saturday8pm-9pmEvening Performances
    Sunday2pm-3pmMatinee Performance

  • Each day of rehearsals we will take a thirty minute break, so we do ask that you please send a snack with your child and all drinks must have a top on them.

  • All students will need to wear comfortable clothes and tennis shoes to camp every day. No sandals.

  • This is a more detailed costume show, the costume fee is $25.00. This includes a camp
T-shirt, decorations for costuming, and headpieces.

  • Everyone will need one dress up 'sunday outfit' of their own to wear in the ball scene.

  • The total cost for the workshop will be $100 plus the $25 costume fee. Deadlines for registration and a deposit of $50.00 will be May28th. The remaining $50.00 fee and $25.00 costume fee will be due on the first day of the workshop or you can pay the entire fee at one time. Make all checks payable to Laurel Little Theatre.

  • After the week of rehearsals, the kids will have three performances. June 5th & 6th at 8pm and then on June 7th a matinee at 2pm. Each performance will last about an hour. Tickets will be $5.00 at the door, but reservations should be called in the week of the show at 601-518-0295.

We should be able to take some walk-ins on the first day of camp, but please contact us to let us know your child is coming so we can include you on the list of campers. We look forward to having your child participate in our summer camp.

Our auditions are usually very laid back and you don't really need to prepare anything. Just come on down and we'll have a simple form you fill in with contact info. Auditioning could be a very scary thing, but we try to keep it as easy-breezy as we can so that newcomers will come join in with us on our productions.

For play auditions, the show director will have everyone read some scenes, but you don't have to show up with any memorized piece to audition with.

For musical auditions, you can sing anything you'd like or we'll just teach everyone a short song to sing together. If you bring sheet music, we'll have an accompanist to play for you. You can prepare a song or just sing 'Happy Birthday' or the National Anthem or an old hymn or you can wait and learn a group song with everyone else.
