The show was a 'monster' hit on Broadway in its original run back in 1997 receiving numerous Tony and Drama Desk nominations and awards, and was revived in NYC just two years ago.
A huge national tour of the show is scheduled for next year, and filming will soon begin on a major motion picture release, but LLT has secured the rights to bring it to our audiences as a special Halloween week presentation this fall to kick off our "Fabulous Fifty-Fifth Season"
Based on the classic old 1886 novel of "The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde", it tells the story of a conflicted man with double personalities - one good, and one evil - who seeks revenge for the evils that were inflicted on his father. The musical has a beautifully haunting score by Frank Wildhorn that featured the hit song "This Is The Moment" and the production made Linda Eder (who was recently in concert in Hattiesburg) an international star.
It's the classic 1941 Broadway hit that ran for over three years and opened with one reviewer saying "it was so funny that none of us will ever forget it."
Two dotty old-maid spinster aunts have decided that they'll just go on and put the lonely old single men looking for a room to rent from them out of their misery. They've already murdered a dozen of them and buried the bodies in the basement. And how did they knock them off so easily? Easy - just get them to drink some of their home-brewed elderberry wine that they've laced with arsenic, strychnine and "just a pinch of cyanide." A lethal concoction to be sure - but don't worry - we won't be serving it at intermission!
The 1944 film version starring Cary Grant and Peter Lorre was a huge hit and is still one of the most successful comedies of that era which the New York Times called "great macabre fun." It's a classic CHILLER comedy that will keep your laughing as you see just what those two crazy ol' ladies get up to next!
The LLT reservation line for ARSENIC AND OLD LACE will open December 3rd and answers 24 hours a day at 601.428.0140.
LLT's annual Southern comedy is sure to be a hoot! Not since STEEL MAGNOLIAS has a more colorful and dysfunctional group of Southern eccentrics gathered below the Mason-Dixon line.
In the backwoods of the Bible Belt, the Turpin family struggles to all come together to bury the despicable daddy of the family. One son drinks too much, a second one is doin' time in prison, another son is pretty much a deadbeat, the daughter is a junk food junkie and his not-so-grieving widow wants to engrave "He Was Mean And Surly" on the tombstone.
The stage play of DEARLY DEPARTED was later adapted into a movie screenplay and retitled KINGDOM COME. The 2001 film starred Whoopi Goldberg, LL Cool J, Vivicia Fox, Loretta Devine, Toni Braxton and Jada Pinkett Smith.
Don't miss it - You'll DIE laughin'!!!
The LLT reservation line for DEARLY DEPARTED will open February 25th and answers 24 hours a day at 601.428.0140.
For years our audiences have asked us to return the annual Kids' Camp production to our 4-Punch Season Ticket - and this year it will once more be part of our main season!
Our annual Summer Kids' Camp is an intensive one-week workshop where over 100 students have a memorable time learning the audition and rehearsal process, and then they'll end the week with five THRILLING performances of DISNEY'S PETER PAN JR!
Using J.M. Barrie's enchanting play about the boy who just "won't grow up," this stage version is based on the Disney animated film that featured the memorable songs "Second Star To The Right," "You Can Fly" and "Yo Ho, Yo Ho, A Pirate's Life For Me."
You'll meet Peter and all his Lost Boys as he takes Wendy, Michael and John off to Never Land. On their exciting adventure they meet mermaids and Indians, and even the infamous Captain Hook and his Pirates!
Pre-registration is required early next spring for the students since our camp ALWAYS sells out in advance. Camp runs for one week beginning May 26, 2016 and then there's performances the weekend of June 2-5, 2016. Make sure you're on our email newsletter list to get the first early notice when registration opens! Drop a line to LLTLaurelMS@aol.com to be added to that list.
Come and see just how much all those adorable kids can amaze you with what they do with just a week of rehearsals!
